Academy of READING®

The Academy of READING was chosen for the TEA Commissioner’s List of Approved Intensive Reading Programs by a panel of experts who reviewed proposals. The Academy of READING met all of the grant program’s criteria. It includes comprehensive research-based instruction, assessment and performance outcome measures, data-driven instructional systems, and professional development in its implementation and use.

The web-based Academy of READING builds fluency in the foundation skills of reading by systematically training in the following key areas:

  • phonemic awareness
  • phonics and decoding
  • oral and silent reading fluency
  • vocabulary
  • comprehension

While building foundation skills, the program’s adaptive intervention engine and management system provide individualized training and ongoing progress monitoring that give teachers access to rich data for differentiating instruction. In-product reports provide instant access to critical information to make data-driven decisions at the student, class and school level.

In addition, the new RtI Package for the Academy of READING connects the four key pillars of Response to Intervention in one web-based platform: universal oral fluency screening, scientifically-based intervention, case management/reporting, and integrated professional services.

The Academy of READING is proven to be effective for struggling readers and English Learners in as little as 25-30 minutes three times a week.
