Research Paper

Abstract

The National Reading Panel and the National Research Council have identified reading fluency as crucial, and strongly recommend that teachers regularly assess students’ reading fluency.

This paper outlines how the Academy of READING with Oral Reading Fluency meets both the instructional and assessment recommendations, providing research-based, systematic instruction to build the foundation skills of reading fluency along with an Oral Fluency Benchmark Assessment and progress monitoring to track fluency development.
