AutoSkill launches the first literacy intervention suite to include reading and math in a single package

Allows administrators to implement a consistent literacy intervention strategy across schools and districts

Sep. 1, 2005

OTTAWA, ON – September 1, 2005 – AutoSkill® International Inc today launched the AutoSkill® Literacy Intervention Suite to address the industry challenge of helping struggling students to build foundation math and reading skills. Available for the K-12 market, the AutoSkill Literacy Intervention Suite provides a consistent methodology and common management and reporting tools to help administrators make data-driven decisions and meet accountability requirements.

The AutoSkill Literacy Intervention Suite consists of two proven, research-based products that have helped elementary, middle and high school students achieve significant and sustainable grade level gains for the past 20+ years. The Academy of READING® builds automaticity in reading and the Academy of MATH® builds proficiency in math.

“Seasoned educators know that students who struggle in reading also tend to struggle in math,” said Dr. Elliot Loh, Manager of Research and Efficacy Studies, AutoSkill International Inc.

“Literacy by definition includes both subjects – extending the focus of literacy training to embrace math will help meet educators' and administrators' goals of better preparing struggling students for high school and beyond.”

“Word problems perfectly illustrate the connection between reading and math. Consider this state-test sample question: Gueneviere went into Saul's Bakery and spent five dollars to buy three packages of dinner rolls. She then went next door to the SuperShop Store and bought a container of milk for three dollars. How much money will she have left if she started with $10? In order to correctly answer this question a student needs to have good reading and math skills," continued Dr. Loh.

The benefits of the AutoSkill Literacy Intervention Suite include:

  • Systematic approach to building foundation reading and math skills using dynamic, individualized training programs
  • Consistent, automated monitoring, management and reporting tools to track student, classroom and school progress in both subjects
  • A single, cost-effective package that works within existing network environments and can be implemented quickly, easily managed and scaled across districts
  • Optimize training and professional development funds and IT resources
  • One web-based interface, one username and password, and one database for the entire district

The AutoSkill Literacy Intervention Suite is available immediately. Pricing information is available upon request.
