High School

Features and Benefits

Using AutoSkill Academy of MATH® and Academy of READING® software intervention solutions, high school students and adult learners can achieve rapid and permanent gains in reading and math.

Rapid Remediation

Students who enter high school without fundamental reading and math skills have no time to lose. Using the Academy of READING or the Academy of MATH, students can become "high school ready" as quickly as possible and avoid falling further behind.

  • Short, intensive training sessions of 30 minutes per day, 3-5 days per week allow students to realize significant, permanent gains in reading and math
  • Reading and math can be built in tandem, minimizing delays in skills development
  • Students can access training programs from anywhere on the school network – before school, during class, lab, or after school – providing more opportunities for learning

Fluency Through Automaticity

High school students who struggle with reading and math face an enormous challenge to cope with the higher degree of complexity of high school material. By truly developing automaticity in the subskills of reading, high school students can become fluent readers and move on to higher levels of learning.

  • The Academy of READING is the only reading intervention software that ensures the development of automaticity in high school students with a three-pronged approach – measuring accuracy, speed, and consistency of pace as part of skill mastery
  • Automatic processing is developed through extensive practice under consistent conditions
  • Students realize rapid, permanent gains and master foundation reading skills for life

Re-engaging Older Students

By the time struggling students reach high school, they are often disengaged, discouraged and in some cases, may have begun to exhibit behavioral problems. School has never been a positive experience, and they need extra support to build their confidence and skills.

  • Academy of READING and Academy of MATH provide continuous positive feedback and congratulatory messages to let students experience rapid and repeated success
  • Combination of extrinsic and intrinsic motivators build confidence and engage students in their learning process
  • Customizable motivational characters and age-appropriate graphics and content give older students the ability to learn in a supportive environment

Reading and Math Specialist

High school curriculum and the expertise of teachers center on instruction in advanced topics, rather than providing remedial intervention in basic reading and math skills. The Academy of READING and the Academy of MATH create an individual training program for each student, bringing the benefits of a reading and math specialist to each student.

  • Large groups of students of different ages and abilities can focus on their own areas of weakness without embarrassment, providing a unique and tailored training experience
  • Intervention engine adapts the training experience to each student's skill level and performance to provide an individualized training program that moves students along at their own pace.
  • The programs incorporate a cross-curricular approach to strengthen skill development across subjects

Support in Spanish

Designed for Spanish-speaking students learning to read English, SpanishTutor is an optional instructional module for the Academy of READING that delivers tutorials and assistance in Spanish.

  • Delivers Academy of READING student tutorials and motivational elements in Spanish – allowing students to progress through training with instruction and feedback provided in a familiar way
  • Neutral enunciation and generic accents make it ideal for all Spanish-speaking students
  • Accelerates reading skills progress, helping ELL students achieve faster gains

Progress Data

Educators and administrators need access to information to help guide instruction and management of high school programs.

  • Reports enable teachers to use formative assessment data, to pinpoint areas of weakness and identify skills for review
  • Concise and highly visual reporting format displays different views of the data, including gains summary, gains details, and snapshot views
  • Summary data views let administrators track activity and gains in the program and compare progress within a class or school
