In this program, students earn Academy dollars by being on task, working hard, showing improvement, etc., not just for mastering skills. Prizes are displayed on a table in the classroom to keep students motivated to earn more Academy dollars. (photos below)
Students save their Academy dollars and at the end of the school year the student with the most money chooses first from the table of prizes, then the second highest earner chooses, and so on.
The school purchases some of the items and also receives donated items from local businesses.
We run the prize table program for the last six weeks of school. Throughout the school year we also do other activities such as:
- Students are allowed to pick something out of the treasure chest for every tenth trophy they earn
- Teachers use the Achievement Posters and stickers to keep track of daily progress
- Foam Academy trophies are placed on top of the computers in the lab that are to be used for Academy of READING (photo below)
