Question
I've just started using the
Academy of MATH with my students. Could you
please explain the levels to me? For instance, one of
my 7th grade students was placed in Level 2-4. Does
this mean 2nd to 4th grade level?
Answer
Each level in the Academy of MATH relates to the fundamental skills required to meet proficiency according to the standards proposed by the National Council of Teacher of Mathematics (NCTM).
The Academy of MATH delivers an Individualized Training Program (ITP) based on the student’s performance level and grade level. This ITP can consist of one to three levels. Training begins at the instructional level as indicated on the results from the Placement Test.
In the situation mentioned above, this is a grade 7 student who scored at an instructional level of grade 2. He has been assigned an ITP that consists of three levels — 2 to 4. When he completes that ITP, a second one will be assigned at Level 5-7.
